Common Display Ad Sizes

  • Wide Sky — 160x600
  • Leaderboard — 728x90
  • Medium Rectangle — 300x250

General Bizo Advertisement Specifications

  • All new creative/tags will be tested for policy adherence and functionality prior to being placed live on the Bizo Targeting Network.
    • Non-Rich Media testing lead time - up to 2 business days.
    • Rich Media testing lead time - up to 5 business days.
    • All 3rd-Party Ad Tags testing lead time - up to 5 business days.
  • Creative must have a complete and distinct border to clearly identify where the webpage ends, and advertisement begins.
  • The sponsor of any advertising message must be clearly identified on the ad itself.
  • Creative must match ad size.
  • Animation cannot exceed 15 seconds. Animation can begin again on mouse over, but must stop immediately on mouse off.
  • Advertisements cannot mimic news headlines in design, tone, 3rd-person sentence structure, or topic.
  • Advertisements cannot mislead the user. For example, they may not mimic or resemble Windows/Mac/Unix dialogue boxes, error messages, or the like.
  • Advertisements cannot contain graphics that simulate interactivity (i.e., drop-down menus, search boxes, etc.) without that functionality actually existing. NO fake or simulated HTML interactivity.
  • No obscene or otherwise objectionable images.
  • Audio is only allowed upon the user click.
  • Linking URLs must be domain-name-based and cannot be an IP address.
  • A link to the advertiser’s privacy policy is required on all click-through URLs/landing pages.
  • Bizo allows advertisements to collect personal identifying information. If you wish to collect personal information within advertisements, those ad units will need to:
    • Clearly identify your organization
    • Provide a direct link to your privacy policy, adjacent to the submit button
    • Clearly identify the purpose for collecting the information

Non-Rich Media Ad Specs

IMAGE (GIF/JPG) AD SPECS

  • All General Bizo Advertisement Policies must be adhered to.
  • Animation cannot exceed 15 seconds.
  • 40KB max file size for all units.

FLASH AD SPECS

  • All General Bizo Advertisement Policies must be adhered to.
  • Animation cannot exceed 15 seconds. Looping must be set to False.
  • Bizo allows Flash versions 6,7,8,9,& 10 (AS2 & AS3)
  • 40KB initial download and up to 4 additional download streams upon user click are permitted. Each additional stream may not exceed 100KB.
  • Frame rate of 12 frames per second is recommended. Frame rate may not exceed 24 frames per second. Banners that exceed 24 frames per second will not be accepted.
  • Flash 6 SWF files will be displayed for Flash 6.0 to 6.0.0.65 plug in browsers only. If the browser doesn't support Flash 6.0 and above the alternate image will be served. Flash 7 ads will be displayed for 7.0 plugin and above, etc.
  • Loading files from cross domains is not permitted for security reasons.
  • All Flash files must open in a new window.
  • All Flash ads must be accompanied by the SWF file as well as an alternate image (GIF or JPG) of the same dimensions. Images must meet the file size specs for that ad size.
  • Onload play audio is not permitted in Flash ads. Sounds played on click are allowed. All sounds are subject to approval by Bizo.
  • For best results, we recommend having the button encompass the entire ad area throughout the entire timeline. Buttons must have the clickTAG expression (see below) in place of embedded URLs.

  • The clickTAG expression must be attached to a button object and called onRelease.
  • Do not embed any URLs in the Flash file—include linking URLs in an email or other document.
  • Make sure the dimensions of the movie meet the specs for the ad you are creating.

FACEBOOK: 

NEWSFEED SPECS

  • Logo and Page Name
    • The logo and name from the brand's Facebook page where the News Feed creative is initially posted. Hovering over these elements displays a thumbnail of the brand's page, and clicking on these elements takes the user to the brand's page.
  • Message (not required)
    • The message from the post on the brand's Facebook page.

    • Maximum of 500 characters including spaces, with no word having more than 20 characters.

    • See requirements for Title below.

  • Image
    • The image for the News Feed creative. Clicking on the image takes the user to the Landing Page URL.
    • Must be in one of the following formats: JPF, PNG, GIF.
      • Static images only, no animation.
    • Recommended sizes are 200x200 and 600x315. Facebook will resize 200x200 images as smaller, square images and resize 600x315 images as larger, rectangular images. There is no guarantee that Facebook will resize images of other sizes appropriately.
    • Image must not be more than 20% text. You can check if your image is more than 20% text by using the Facebook grid tool.
  • Title
    • The title for the News Feed creative. This displays to the right of the image. Clicking on the title takes the user to the Landing Page URL.

    • Maximum of 55 characters including spaces, with no word having more than 20 characters.

    • Must not contain newline characters.

    • Must not start with punctuation.

    • Must not consist entirely of capital letters.

    • Must not include duplicate consecutive punctuation characters with the exception of 3 ellipses...

    • Must not include double spaces.

    • Must not include more than 2 consecutive 1 character words.

    • Must not include 2 consecutive punctuation marks.

    • Must not include the following characters: \ ^ ~ _ = { } [ ] | < >

      • International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) Symbols, e.g., θ, ð, ʃ, ʒ, etc.
      • Superscript and subscript characters with the exception of TM and SM
    • For possible additional rules, please see Facebook's Creative spec and Creative policies.

  • Landing Page URL
    • The landing page for the News Feed creative. The user is directed to this URL after clicking the Image, Title, Body Text, or Domain.

    • URL can be a maximum of 750 characters.

    • URL must begin with "http://" or "https://".

    • URL must not be a facebook.com domain.

    • Landing page must not contain video content (e.g. YouTube).

  • Domain (not required)
    • The domain of the Landing Page URL. Clicking on the domain takes the user to the Landing Page URL.
  • Body Text
    • The body text of the News Feed creative. This displays under the title. Clicking on the body text takes the user to the Landing Page URL.

    • Maximum of 145 characters characters including spaces, with no word having more than 20 characters.

    • See requirements for Title above.

  • Like/Comment/Share
    • Social interaction features that display at the bottom of the News Feed creative.

  • Impression Tracking Pixels (not required)
    • Custom impression tracking pixels to serve with the Facebook News Feed creative. Up to three pixels can be included. Each pixel must conform to Facebook's requirements:

    • The pixel server has been approved by Facebook. (Please contact the support team if you're unsure if your pixel server is on the approved list.)

    • Facebook servers are able to establish a connection with the pixel server.

    • The final destination URL of the pixel is a 1x1 image.

    • The final destination URL of the pixel is secure (https) and contains a valid SSL/TLS certificate.

    • The pixel does not drop more than one cookie.

    • The size of the cookie is less than 1024 characters (1kb).

    • Facebook servers receive a response from the pixel server in less than one second.

    • The pixel does not redirect, except as necessary to pull down the 1x1 image and then only from the same domain as the pixel. This implies that piggyback pixels are not allowed.

RIGHT-HAND SIDE SPECS (New)

  • Title 
    • Maximum of 25 characters including spaces, with no word having more than 20 characters.
    • Must not contain newline characters.
    • Must not start with punctuation.
    • Must not consist entirely of capital letters.
    • Must not include duplicate consecutive punctuation characters with the exception of 3 ellipses...
    • Must not include double spaces.
    • Must not include more than 2 consecutive 1 character words.
    • Must not include 2 consecutive punctuation marks. Facebook currently treats the symbols ™, ®, and © as punctuation marks.
    • Must not include the following characters:
      • \ ^ ~ _ = { } [ ] | < >
      • International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) Symbols, e.g., θ, ð, ʃ, ʒ, etc.
      • Superscript and subscript characters with the exception of TM and SM
  • Body Text
    • Maximum of 90 characters including spaces, with no word having more than 20 characters.
    • Must not start with punctuation.
    • Must not include words separated by commas but not spaces, e.g. "Michelin,Pirelli,Bridgestone".
    • Must not consist entirely of capital letters.
    • Must not include duplicate consecutive punctuation characters with the exception of 3 ellipses...
    • Must not include double spaces.
    • Must not include more than 2 consecutive 1 character words.
    • Must not include 2 consecutive punctuation marks.
    • Must not include the following characters:
      • \ ^ ~ _ = { } [ ] | < >
      • International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) Symbols, e.g., θ, ð, ʃ, ʒ, etc.
      • Superscript and subscript characters with the exception of TM and SM
  • Image
    • Image must be in one of the following formats: JPF, PNG, GIF.
    • Image must not be more than 20% text. You can check if your image is more than 20% text by using the Facebook grid tool.
    • As of 8/5/14, you should start using images with an aspect ratio of 1.91:1. The recommended image size is 600x315, but any size larger than 254x133 with an aspect ratio of 1.91:1 will be accepted. For more guidance, see Transitioning to the New Facebook Creative Format.
  • Landing Page URL
    • URL can be a maximum of 750 characters.
    • URL must begin with "http://" or "https://".
    • Facebook has a crawler that clicks on most (but not all) creatives and displays the landing page domain beneath the creative title.
  • Brand
    • The brand associated to the Right-Hand Side creative
  • Impression Tracking Pixels (not required)
    • Custom impression tracking pixels to serve with the Facebook Right-Hand Side creative. Up to three pixels can be included. Each pixel must conform to Facebook's requirements:

    • The pixel server has been approved by Facebook. (Please contact the support team if you're unsure if your pixel server is on the approved list.)
    • Facebook servers are able to establish a connection with the pixel server.
    • The final destination URL of the pixel is a 1x1 image.

MICROSOFT OUTLOOK SPECS

  • Headline
    • Maximum of 25 characters including spaces.
    • Must not contain newline characters.
    • Must not include 2 consecutive punctuation marks. 
    • Must not consist entirely of capital letters - only the first letter of a word may be capitalized.
    • Must not start with punctuation.
    • Must not include double spaces.
    • Must not include more than 2 consecutive 1 character words.
    • Must not include special characters like < > * \ ^ ~ _ = { } [ ] | < >.
  • Image
    • Must be 100x72 pixels. If the image is any other dimension, it will be scaled (resized) proportionally when rendered to fit within 100x72.
    • Must be in one of the following formats: JPF, PNG, GIF.
      Must not be flash.
      Must not include any animation.
      Initial load size must be less than 40 KB.
  • Description
    • Maximum of 90 characters including spaces, with no word having more than 20 characters.
    • Must not include 2 consecutive punctuation marks. 
    • Must not consist entirely of capital letters - only the first letter of a word may be capitalized.
    • Must not start with punctuation.
    • Must not include double spaces.
    • Must not include more than 2 consecutive 1 character words.
    • Must not include special characters like < > * \ ^ ~ _ = { } [ ] | < >.
  • Landing Page URL
    • Maximum of 1024 characters.
    • Must begin with "http://" or "https://".
  • Pixel URL (not required)
    • Maximum of 1024 characters.
    • Must be secure (https) and contain a valid SSL/TLS certificate.
  • Flex Tile Label (not required)
    • Maximum of 20 characters.

Rich Media Ad Specs

Please note: all rich media creative requires a standard, non-rich media creative as backup.

EXPANDABLE (not available on all Bizo publisher partner properties)

  • All General Bizo Advertisement Policies must be adhered to.
  • Rich Media testing lead time - up to 5 business days.
  • Must be built by an approved Rich Media vendor (adInterax, Atlas DMT, Brightroll, DoubleClick Motif, EyeWonder, EyeReturn, FlashTalking, Interpolls, LinkStorm, MediaMind, PointRoll, Unicast by Viewpoint, United Virtualities).
  • Expansion must be user initiated on click only.
  • Close button is required.
  • File Size - Alt image GIF/JPG = 20k, Initial Flash = 40k, Rich Flash = 60k, Total file size = 100k (without video), 2.2MB (with video)
  • Animation cannot exceed 15 seconds.
  • Audio
    • On user click only
    • 30 seconds maximum
  • Expand Direction/Size
    • 728x90 - down (expand to 728x300)
    • 300x250 - left & down (expand to 500x300)
    • 160x600 - left (expand to 460x600)
  • Video
    • Format: True Streaming. Progressive download available on click only
    • Length: 30 seconds max
    • File Size: 2.2MB

IN-BANNER VIDEO (not available on all Bizo publisher partner properties)

  • Audio
    • On user click only
    • 30 seconds maximum
  • Button Functionality:
    • Stop/Mute & Start buttons required
    • Play, Stop/Pause, and Mute buttons are preferred
  • Hot spot (clickable section) should be no more than 25% of the entire ad unit.

PREROLL VIDEO SPECS

    • Container Format: FLV (.flv), MPEG-4 Part 14 (usually .mp4 or .m4v), or OGG

    • Video should not be letterboxed/pillarboxed: it will be scaled/letterboxed/pillarboxed as necessary to fit the video frame
    • Max Size: 2MB (15s) or 4MB (30s)
  • Companion Banner

    • Supported raw assets: GIF, JPG, PNG, or SWF
    • Creative size (Raw Assets): 30 KB maximum

3rd-Party Tag Specs

  • All 3rd Party Ad Tags are required to be SSL compliant (https).
    • All assets (image, swf, css, etc.) are delivered from a secure SSL encrypted server.
    • All beacons and pixels associated with the creative need to be SSL encrypted.
    • Failure to do so may result in pacing and performance challenges.
  • All General Bizo Advertisement Policies must be adhered to.
  • All 3rd Party Ad Tags testing lead time - up to 5 business days.
  • 3rd party tags must be live at the time of submission to enable thorough testing before launch.
  • Actual creative format (image, Flash, rich media, etc.) must adhere to the format’s applicable specifications.
  • Click tracking must be enabled for 3rd party ad tags.
  • Animation cannot exceed 15 seconds.
